Starting a business is never easy, but for me, it was a decision that was born out of a desire for a better work-life balance. After years of working in administrative positions in the civil engineering and transportation sectors, I found myself feeling ready for a new level of autonomy. Although there were aspects of the corporate culture that I respected, I did not gain true satisfaction from the work due to the lack of appreciation for my attention to detail, and the nearly impossible commute schedules.

I first discovered the world of consulting in 2004 when working as a database manager at the Port of Oakland. Over the next decade, I found those co-workers who were actually consultants to be more relaxed, happier, and to have a better work-life balance. I strove to find my way to that lifestyle, and meet my professional goals without compromising my health and happiness.

I took a break from civil engineering and construction management to work with a tax firm for three years, where I gained tax credentials, personal client experience, and a vision for my own independent business.

With the technological innovations made popular during the Covid-19 pandemic, I knew that I could offer remote services and online meeting spaces without being tied to any place or a rigid schedule.

I launched Bay Area Consulting in January of 2022.

Since then, I have had the privilege of conducting a deep-dive financial review for a hazardous remediation and demolition company, including tax status review with representation, and payroll staff training. For other clients, I have provided on-call tax help, notary services, term sheet generation, and tour schedules.

It brings me great joy to provide the peace of mind that comes from knowing that every financial hurdle has a solution, and that I can facilitate that solution for my clients.
