Hi, I'm Elspeth, founder of Bay Area Consulting.

Born in England, I moved to the US when I was two, and I grew up in Lafayette, California. After a few years of tasting the life in other cities, including Denver, Los Angeles, and Oakland, I settled back to Lafayette 15 years ago. I have two siblings nearby, and a sister and a brother who live on the east coast. We see each other whenever we can, and talk most Sundays. I also have four nieces, two nephews, and a grand-niece.

I got my start in accounting during a ten year run of construction management on civil engineering projects. From there, I spent a few years as the primary administrator for a hazardous materials remediation company (demolition, and asbestos and lead abatement). I dipped my toe in the tax world through the Covid years, and I started my own tax and financial consulting company in 2022.

I'm currently an Enrolled Agent, which is a credential that allows me to represent clients before the IRS and to prepare taxes. During the less-busy parts of tax seasons, I offer management and financial consulting and bookkeeping. In the next few years, I hope to expand and offer a comprehensive portfolio of services as well as to offer quality employment to others.

I care about detail and a high level of quality. I'm extremely organized, I manage my time efficiently, I'm open to trying new technologies and networking with global digital communities. I'm a lifelong learner, I have a knack for making people feel comfortable, I type (mostly) accurately, I have decent grammar, I can spell, and I'm good with Excel.

It brings me great joy to provide the peace of mind that comes from knowing that every financial hurdle has a solution, and that I can facilitate that solution for my clients.
